PepsiCo Supplier Awarded for Innovation in Sustainable Business Practices

John B. Sanfilippo & Son has recently received two awards from PepsiCo. for promoting best business practices through their emphasis on sustainability as a guiding factor in all of their operations. JBSS was also recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for meeting the Energy Star Challenge for Industry by reducing energy "intensity" by 10 percent within 5 years or less. Why would 5 Earth Charter US Board members and a volunteer go over 7000 miles to Lusaka, Zambia? While it may be perfectly appropriate to question their sanity, the reason has to do with the Earth Charter being modeled in a true person to person attempt to practice its principles.
