At a summit entitled "Enhancing Equality between Men and Women in the EuroMed Region," government experts, women's rights leaders and experts met to formulate a plan to address lingering issues of gender equality in countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Territories, Syria and Tunisia.
According to an article from Maghrebia:
"The forum enabled us to lay down a joint strategy to be implemented over the coming two years pertaining to movement, training and networking," Tunisian feminism expert Bouthaina Gribaa told Magharebia.
The plan, she said, "will operate on three fronts: violence against women, women and political action, and enhancing institutions".

For Algerian lawyer and feminist Aisha Zinaye, the Brussels event provided " a chance to listen to the reports of other participating countries, which is an added value in the field of gender equality."
Events such as these help draw needed attention to the broader issue of gender inequality around the world. Such attention is an important step in the effort to eradicate it.
