The purpose of the League of Earth Charter Voters is to provide Voter Educational Activities that include sufficiently full and fair explanation of the facts related to the principles and issues of the Earth Charter, an international people's Declaration of Interdependence, to permit individual or public formation of independent opinion. These activities include:
The League of Earth Charter Voters will be housed within the scope of activities of Earth Charter US, a nonprofit 501C3, established to integrate Earth Charter’s principles for human rights, economic justice, respect for nature and culture of peace into personal lifestyles, institutional policies and practices, and community initiatives. It is the national office for Earth Charter in the United States. The League of Earth Charter Voters will operate at the national, state and local levels. There will be a National Advisory Board composed of people with diverse backgrounds that will set policies that will apply the Earth Charter principles to specific candidates positions and voting records. They will decide what legislative initiatives are consistent with the Earth Charter and propose positions that the League wants to promote. National Staff for the League of Earth Charter Voters will include at least an Executive Director, Administrative Assistant and Voting Researcher. State Coordinators will offer resources and support to local coordinators. They will meet at least annually to give input to the national advisory board regarding legislative issues, policies and candidates. In turn, the state coordinators will receive input from the local coordinators. All League levels will host candidate forums and participate in voter educational activities. League communication vehicles will include on-line newsletter, voting record reports, monthly conference calls with state coordinators and national office. A League of Earth Charter Voters Fund will be established within Earth Charter US accounts. National League office will receive membership funds and rebate back to the state and local levels 90% received. By-Laws will be written regarding specifics of League's operations.
