Update from ECUS’s Partnership Project in Zambia
We recently received an update and photographs from our Community Action on Poverty and Environment (COPE) partnership project in Zambia. The COPE project was formed by the Workers Education Association of Zambia (WEAZ) and Earth Charter US to address challenges in public sanitation, the environmental degradation caused by firewood collection, and unsustainable agriculture practices.
COPE has been implementing local trainings on sustainable practices such as solar cooking, as well as the installation of sanitation facilities. Furthermore, we received word that the Zambia Ministry of Education has plans to formally incorporate the Earth Charter in all schools. Take a look at some of the pictures from the Chongwe Toilet Project and the Mansa Solar Cooking Project.
