Victor just returned from the training trip to Zambezi. He met with the students from Gonzaga while training the villagers on Financial Management, water purification, solar cooking, and rocket stoves. Victor brought one of our friends from Chilupula as well as an Official from the Ministry of Agriculture who helped the villagers set up a financial coop. The coop will become a village bank to create local capital to drive a local economy. Gonzaga University held a fund raiser, and the $1100 that was raised is being used to seed the village bank! The Ministry Official was so impressed with the level of commitment of the people that he promised to speed the licensing process along.
The villagers built both solar stoves and rocket stoves. And they learned to use the WAPI's to help determine when the water was pasteurized. The villagers are gaining the skills to help themselves create a local sustainable economy. It is always exciting to see another village start on the road to a contentment economy through the hard work and dedication of Victor.
